Irving silence
Sound absorbing lamp for
OLEV
2019
Irving Silence is a LED suspension lamp with an original design that recalls a female wide-brimmed summer hat.
It is a tribute to Irving Penn's cover for Vogue, published in April 1950. An opal glass sphere illuminates the room with a diffused light at the centre of a micro-perforated metal sheet with sound-absorbing properties.
Irving's ability to illuminate and simultaneously absorb sounds is suitable for residential and public contexts. With Irving Silence, light is more than dissolving the darkness; it enhances architecture with a more robust and engaging qualitative value.

Irving Penn had been one of the undiscussed masters of fashion photography. Irving Vogue cover from April 1950 featured the model Jean Patchett. Each fashion detail is highlighted: the wide-brimmed felt hat, the black neck scarf, and the short sleeves with split cuffs contrast with striking a precise silhouette against the white backdrop. Penn styled the shot with perfect balance, giving the most contrast possible for the mostly-black shape.
The wide-brimmed felt hat reminds Saturn.
Trevisan does not miss a post from NASA. She wanted to sign a space-age lamp that could fit on a Vogue cover. Space is one of her passions, and she thinks that the most beautiful lights ever designed are those of the Space Age era.
